Two Charged with Murder of Des Plaines Man

Two teenagers have been charged with murder in connection with a man found shot to death in unincorporated Maine Township, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced today.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Feb. 28, Sheriff’s Police received a report of a person laying in the roadway in the 9500 block of North Greenwood Drive. Officers found a man with an apparent gunshot wound. The man, identified as 20-year-old Hussein Darma from unincorporated Des Plaines, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

During their investigation Sheriff’s Police detectives learned that on the night of Feb. 28, Darma was shot shortly after he got into a vehicle in a nearby parking lot and that 17-year-old Christopher Mota of Waukegan, and a 15-year-old boy, also from Waukegan, were involved in the shooting. Mota was charged with murder on March 3 and was denied bond today during his hearing at the Skokie Courthouse.

The 15-year-old was also charged with murder. He is not being named because he has been charged as a juvenile.

The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.
