Bolingbrook Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Child Pornography, Sex Trafficking

Apr 6, 2019Press Release

A 46-year-old Bolingbrook man investigated by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police’s Child Exploitation Unit has been sentenced to federal prison in a child pornography and sex trafficking case, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced today.

In April 2017, Ronald Gobenciong was arrested after Sheriff’s Police Child Exploitation Unit investigators learned that Gobenciong, posing as different people online, enticed a 17-year-old to send pornographic images of himself to Gobenciong and to have sex with him. According to the investigation, when the teen wanted to end the sexual contact, Gobenciong threatened to send the teen’s images to his father. Two additional victims were also identified during the course of the investigation.

This investigation resulted in federal charges. Last year, Gobenciong pleaded guilty in federal court to production of child pornography and to sex trafficking of a minor. On Thursday, a federal judge sentenced him to 19 years in prison.
