SHOREWOOD MAN ARRESTED FOR SOLICITING A CHILD

Home > Press Page

Wednesday, June 10, 2009 — Bond was set today for a Shorewood man arrested for attempting to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex, according to the Office of Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart.

Jason Kaumeyer, 26, of the 1100 block of Geneva Street, was charged with Indecent Solicitation of a Child.  Kaumeyer, after two conversations with who he thought was a 14-year-old girl but was actually a detective from the Sheriff’s Police Child Exploitation Unit, suggested they meet to engage in sex.  Kaumeyer set up the meeting to take place near a fast food restaurant in the Forest Park area.  Kaumeyer was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

During a preliminary review of Kaumeyer’s computer records, evidence of his online correspondence, as well as invitations for his upcoming wedding were recovered.

Kaumeyer’s bond was set at $15,000 and his next court date is June 16th at the Maywood Courthouse.
