LOYOLA HOSPITAL

Home > Press Page

Tuesday, Febuary 24, 2009 — Cook County Sheriff Police continue to investigate an attempted abduction of a 10-year-old child from the parking lot of Loyola University Medical Center in unincorporated Proviso Township near Maywood, the Office of Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.

On Friday about 3:30 p.m., a 10-year-old boy was retrieving some items from his family’s car parked in the hospital parking garage. As the boy was returning to the building, a man in a dark-colored truck pulled up next to him and asked if he needed a ride.

When the boy said no, the man then ordered the boy to get in. The boy then ran toward the door of the hospital just as his mother approached it. At that point, the man then drove off.

Sheriff’s Police have a person of interest and several leads, however no arrests have been made at this time. The young boy was not physically harmed in the incident.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Detective Division at 708-865-4896.
