SOUTHWEST SUBURBAN DEALER CHARGED IN MILLION DOLLAR DRUG BUST
Wednesday, September 21, 2011 —Bond has been set at $636,000 for a southwest suburban man accused of trafficking in cocaine, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Wednesday.
Andreas Deluna, 30, of the 7400 block of West 59th Street in Summit was charged Monday with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a class X felony. He appeared in Bridgeview bond court on Tuesday.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Police South Narcotics Unit began monitoring Deluna in July as a person of interest, based on information developed in previous investigations. In late August, officers received a tip that Deluna had large quantities of cocaine stored at his Summit home. After conducting surveillance, police executed a search warrant at the home on August 23rd. Inside, officers found three kilos of wrapped cocaine in a rear bedroom, additional cocaine in a cabinet, and drug weighing and packaging paraphernalia. In total, investigators seized 4,242 grams of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $1,272,000. Deluna, considered a high-level drug trafficker, was located near his home and taken into custody.
Additional charges are pending against Deluna. His next court date is October 12th in Bridgeview.
