MAN CHARGED AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT ON A THREE-YEAR-OLD
Friday, August 13, 2010—Bond has been set at $100,000 for a Ford Heights man charged with sexually assaulting a three-year-old victim with other juveniles watching, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Friday.
Brentez Davis, 20, of the 800 block of East 8th Place, has been charged with one count of predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony, and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
Davis is related to a man who lives with the victim and her family, and had recently moved into the home. On Sunday, the victim was playing in an upstairs bedroom with two other children when Davis entered the room and assaulted her. The victim’s mother heard her daughter crying, but initially thought it was just a result of the activity with her friends. But a short time later she heard her daughter crying and calling for her. When the mom ran upstairs, she saw Davis with his shorts down around his ankles, and the victim lying on the floor with Davis on top.
The victim’s mother shoved the offender away, picked up her child and ran from the house. She immediately called Cook County Sheriff’s Police, who serve the Ford Heights community. Officers quickly arrived at the home and took Davis into custody. The victim was interviewed at the Joli Burrell Children’s Advocacy Center, along with the other juvenile witnesses who corroborated her story.
Davis has a long history of arrests, including charges for armed robbery, battery and possession of cannabis. His next court date is August 26th in Markham.
