ROSELLE MAN CHARGED IN SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE
Friday, May 15, 2009— Bond was set today at $250,000 for a Roselle man in connection with a battery and a sexual assault involving two juveniles known to him, according to the office of Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart.
James Shields, 20, of the 500 block of Logan, was charged with battery to an 18-month old child and sexual assault to a three-year old child.
The attacks occurred during the first weekend in May while the victims, who are siblings, were staying at the home of a family friend. Shields, who was also staying at the home, allegedly struck the 18-month old in the face, leaving a bruise, which was discovered by the mother when she picked the children up. During subsequent interviews with the children it was related that Shields had struck the 18-month old and had also sexually assaulted the 3-year old.
Shields was picked up, at his residence, on May 13th after returning from vacation. During interviews with Sheriff’s Police detectives, Shields admitted to both the battery and the sexual assault.
Anyone with information about Shields is asked to contact the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Investigations Unit at (708) 865-4896.
