NEIGHBORHOOD ALERT ISSUED
AFTER MAN ARRESTED
Friday, Febuary 26, 2010 — Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart has issued a neighborhood alert in the Elk Grove Township area, after a 79-year-old man was charged with exposing himself to children waiting for a school bus.
John F. “Jack” Hartman was arrested on a charge of public indecency earlier this month at his trailer home in the 400 block of West Touhy Avenue in the Des Plaines area.
On Feb. 12, Hartman was dressed in a white bath robe standing near a rear window of his home, which oversees a school bus stop for children from the mobile home park and nearby houses.
Hartman opened his robe, exposing his genitals to at least one girl who was waiting for the bus. He was standing next to a neon sign positioned in his window saying “Call me” and listing a phone number.
Sheriff’s police officers investigated the complaint and arrested Hartman that day. Hartman is 5-7, 170 pounds with grey hair and blue eyes. He has a slender build, is balding with a white goatee. He drives a 1991 Honda Prelude.
Dart wants parents in the area to be aware of the arrest and encourages anyone who sees Hartman behaving indecently either at home or in his vehicle to contact the Cook County Sheriff’s Police investigations section at 708-865-4896.
Hartman is set to appear in Rolling Meadows court on March 24.
