SHERIFF’S OFFICE PARTICIPATES IN NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
Tuesday, August 3, 2010—The Cook County Sheriff’s Office is joining forces with area communities for this year’s National Night Out Against Crime, Sheriff Tom Dart announced Tuesday.
CCSO is co-sponsoring Maine Township’s National Night Out, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at Dee Park, 9229 Emerson Rd. Participating departments include the Bomb Unit, Hostage Barricade and Terrorism Unit, Gang Crimes Unit, K-9 and Community Policing. There will also be an interactive 911 display and information on CCSO’s Cell Phones for Seniors program.
The Sheriff’s Office will also be participating in Oak Forest’s National Night Out, with the Gang Crimes Unit speaking about criminal activity in the municipality and across the Southern Suburbs. The event takes place at Fire Station #1, located at City Hall, 155th & Central Ave., starting at 6:30 p.m.
Additionally, the Jail Diversion and Crime Prevention Program will be working with Explorer Boy Scouts to bring Safety Town to Berwyn’s National Night Out. Children will learn about basic travel safety at the interactive exhibit, with push-pedal cars and toy houses. Information on CCSO’s anti-violence programs will be available, along with giveaways for kids. Location: Morton West High School, 2400 Home Avenue, from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
National Night Out is a nationwide crime and drug prevention initiative with the goal of strengthening relationships between police and communities.
