LOCAL ESTABLISHMENTS CITED FOR UNDERAGE ALCOHOL SALES
Friday, June 19, 2009 — Seven suburban bars and liquor stores were issued tickets last week for selling alcohol to minors, according to the Office of Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart.
Officers from the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Special Operations Unit, in a joint effort with the Illinois Liquor Commission, conducted an operation where officers escorted teenage residents to various local establishments. The teenagers, using their own valid state identification cards, entered the establishments and attempted to purchase liquor. Seven of the 24 businesses visited sold liquor to the undercover teenagers and were issued citations.
The establishments cited were:
Allycat Lounge, 115 E. Grand Avenue, Melrose Park
Squab Gyros, 2348 N. Mannheim Road, Melrose Park
Possum’s Pub, 2324 N. Mannheim Road, Melrose Park
Ozzie’s Food Store, 11158 W. Grand, Avenue, Melrose Park
Two Rivers Event Center, 10997 Archer Avenue, Lemont
Frankie & Johnnie’s Roadhouse, 5009 S. Central, Central Stickney Township
Bottoms Up, 1696 Thornton-Lansing Road, Lansing
In addition to the citation issued by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police, which can result in a fine up to $500, the establishment was also given a ticket for an administrative hearing before the Illinois Liquor Commission.
