KelliFriday, August 9, 3013 —Cook County Sheriff’s Police located a missing at-risk man alive in a wooded area near Merrionette Park, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.

Approximately 4:25 p.m. on Thursday, Sheriff’s Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle near the 3400 block of West 119th Street.

Officers learned that the vehicle’s driver, a 24-year-old Evergreen Park man, may be despondent and try to hurt himself.

A K-9 unit led the ground search, supported by a helicopter, which attempted to locate the man via thermal imaging.

K-9 Kelli successfully led officers to him, utilizing scent from his clothing. He was found lying on the ground under a metal-type thermal blanket with injuries to his wrist.

A Sheriff’s Police Hostage Barricade Terrorist Team medic treated him on scene before paramedics took him to a local hospital for additional treatment.
