Friday, June 11, 2010— An Alabama man was sentenced to 25 years in jail today, after pleading guilty to home invasion and the criminal sexual assault of an 86-year-old LaGrange woman.

George LucasGeorge Lucas, 25, was arrested on August 30th, 2008 for breaking into the victim’s home and sexually assaulting her.

Police responded to a 911 call from the victim’s neighbor on August 30th.  The elderly victim told officers she was awakened by a man with his hand across her mouth, who held her down and attempted to rape her.

During their investigation, officers found a picture ID and other items identifying George Lucas on the victim’s lawn.

The same day, investigators located Lucas at a local hospital, and he admitted attacking the victim.  Lucas told police he was in the LaGrange area selling magazines door-to-door when he broke into the victim’s home.  In a written statement, Lucas confessed to putting his hand over the victim’s mouth to keep her quiet and to sexually assaulting her.

Lucas appeared before Judge Colleen McSeeney Moore in Bridgeview district court.
