ATHLETES, MILITARY VETS AND COLLEGE GRADUATES AMONG DOC GRADUATING CLASS

— A five time All-American track and fielder from Ashford University, two marathon runners, two former semi-pro soccer players and two 1st generation Americans are among the 29 members graduating today from Cook County Sheriff's Training Academy. This will mark the beginning of their law enforcement careers as Correctional Officers based at the Cook County Department of Corrections.
Sheriff Thomas J. Dart will preside over the ceremony which is set for 2 p.m. today at the Fine and Performing Arts Center located on the Moraine Valley Community College Campus in Palos Heights.
Of the 29 cadets in this graduating class, two served in the US Armed Forces, one of whom has a Masters Degree from UIC. Also graduating is a former MVP baseball player from Northern Illinois University, a former member of the US Air Force and numerous individuals with bachelor and associate degrees. Fields of study include criminal justice, culinary arts, sociology, history and education.
