SHERIFF’S POLICE ISSUE NEARLY 75 TICKETS DURING LEYDEN TOWNSHIP
SAFETY CHECK
Thursday, October 1st, 2009 — Cook County Sheriff’s Police issued nearly 75 tickets during a random roadside safety check in unincorporated Leyden Township, according to the office of Sheriff Thomas J. Dart.
The safety check took place Friday night, September 25th, between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. in the 2500 block of North Manheim Road. In all 1,040 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 347 were stopped and screened by Sheriff’s Police.
Among the tickets issued include three for DUI, three for revoked/suspended driver’s license, 34 for no insurance and numerous tickets for other offenses such as failure to wear a seatbelt, equipment violations and registration offenses.
The Sheriff’s Random Roadside Safety Check Program is conducted regularly across Cook County in an effort to promote safe driving.
