Senior Academy

The Executive Office of the Sheriff directs the implementation of all functions and duties of the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. The Executive Office oversees policy development, and the carrying out of those policies, for the department’s six major divisions: Department of Corrections, Sheriff’s Police, Court Services, Department of Community Supervision and Intervention, Community Services and Custodial Services.

Operating directly within the Executive Office are:

  • The Department of Finance, which prepares and executes the Sheriff’s budget.
  • The Department of Personnel, which oversees staffing and payroll procedures for the 6,800 employees of the Sheriff’s Office.
  • The Press Office, which handles all media inquiries for the Sheriff, as well as runs the Sheriff’s Speakers Bureau and the Senior Citizen Law Enforcement Academy.
