PACE
Established in 1967, PACE facilitates academic and life skills programming
for male and female pretrial detainees. PACE is a division of the Safer Foundation, a not-for-profit agency
providing former offenders with life-skills and prevention counseling, academic
enrichment, work place training and jobs. At Cook County Jail, PACE staff
and volunteers teach academic and computer literacy skills to pre-trial
detainees. Additional services include personal, group, family, alcohol
and drug abuse counseling as well as single-parenting and prevention seminars.
