Entrance Directions: Visitation for Division Two must enter at the Division 4 Entrance, located at 28th and Sacramento, just south of 26th Street or Division 5 in the Main Gate, located at 27th and California, just south of the Criminal Courts Buildings.

Built in 1955, Division 2 was designed to hold 870 detainees in a dormitory setting. Formerly the City of Chicago’s House of Corrections, it was turned over to the Sheriff’s Office in 1970 and combined with Division 1 to form the Cook County Department of Corrections. Division 2 has four individual dormitories of which three are three story buildings and the other is a single level building. Division 2 has a total capacity of 1,860 minimum/medium security detainees.
