Protective Orders can be brought to the Sheriff’s Office Civil Division by either the Cook County State’s Attorney, Clerk of the Circuit Court’s Office, or the Petitioner directly. The Sheriff’s Office does not charge a fee for the service of a Protective Order. A No Contact Order is treated the same as an Order of Protection. A Protective Order can be filed with the Civil Division at any of our suburban courthouse locations or at the Richard J. Daley Center, (50 W. Washington, Chicago, Room 701). Please be sure to include a valid service address with the correct zip code to ensure proper service.

Please note, supervisors are in the field and available until 10:00 pm, 7 days per week (excluding holidays) at the Skokie and Bridgeview offices, if you call outside the above mentioned hours leave a detailed message and the Sheriff’s Office will get back to you as soon as possible.
Please have the following information available: Name, Case Number or Sheriff’s Number, Respondent’s Name.
