Enforcing a Levy or Replevin

The Levy Unit of the Sheriff’s Office Civil Division is responsible for the enforcement of Levies, Replevin and other related Orders. All Orders must be filed at the Daley Center, 50 W. Washington, Chicago, Room 701 and have a fee of $70.00 per service. The following is what is required when filing that specific Order:
- Levy:
- Three (3) Certified Copies of the Judgment Order.
- Detinue Judgment:
- Three (3) Certified Copies of the Order
- Three (3) Replevin Bonds (Original, Duplicate Original, Photocopy)
- Replevin:
- Enough Certified Copies of the Order & Complaints for each Defendant being served
- One (1) additional Certified Copy of the Order to make a return of service to Clerk
- Three (3) Replevin Bonds
- Lein on Chattel:
- One (1) Certified Copy of the Recorded Copy
- Three (3) Photocopies of the certified copy, bearing marks of certification & recording, each copy must be certified that it is a true copy
- Four (4) Itemized copies of Bills of Particular (expanded labor, skill, repair and/or storage), one copy must bear certification that it is true and correct
- One (1) Notarized copy of an Affidavit
- Three (3) Surety Bonds.
- Order for Attachment:
- Three (3) Certified Copies of the Order
- Enough Certified Copies of the Order for each Defendant/Garnishee being served
- One (1) additional Certified Copy of the Order to make a return of service to Clerk
- Enough Copies of the Complaint/Interrogatories for each Defendant/Garnishee being served
- Three (3) Attachment Bonds (Original, Duplicate Original, Photocopy)(Set by Judge)
- Distress for Rent:
- Three (3) Certified Copies of the Distress Warrants
- Three (3) Copies of the Complaint
- Three (3) Copies of the Inventory
- Seizure Warrant:
- Four (4) Copies of the Seizure Warrant
